About Me
This little corner of the web, contains notes and ideas written by me. Most people from my life in India know me as Shivanand. In 2007 I moved to Burnaby, Canada for work and found love, and I continue to live here. If we met here, you probably know me as Shiva. In the last two decades I have programmed in several languages, built and shipped several enterprise software programs, network management systems, databased and operating systems for telecom routers.
In 2017, I transitioned from being a engineer to a non-programing role as a product manager, and ever since find great satisfaction in being at the intersection of technnology and business. I continue to write code, and very much enjoy the freedom of programming for pleasure. You can find my explorations in code on github and gitlab.

It was a small control systems company that also ran a computer education centre. Fresh out of university, and completed googly-eyed about having the opportunity to work in software. These years were incredible hard and wonderfully fun. We spent days living on biscuts and sleeping on desks to get SMC controllers to talk to windows computers via a COM component, to render cement production flows in an application written in Visual Basic. In between these mammoth coding marathons, we created and launched courses in Visual Basic, and then Visual C++. Some of the best times with my buddy, Guru.
